Ghost of Ernest Tubbs Returns to the Hall of Fame Lounge
Written by - Dan Wakely
It was standing room only at the Hall of Fame Lounge on Setember 30th for the Will
Clement(s) CD Release party. The crowd, many who had driven up from Alabama and were friends and fans of Alabama native Will
Clments, not only heard great traditional country music, but were also thoroughly entertained by Will's performance. From the second that Will, wearing a cowboy hat and a blue rhinestone jacket, hit the stage, the audience was memorized by his heartfelt singing and well-crafted original tunes. If you closed your eyes during the show, you'd swear you were back in the 50's listening to Ernest
Tubb, singing slongs like ""Walkin' the Floor over to You".
Will performed all of the songs off his newly released CD
CHEATIN' ON A CHEATER. The Album was produced by Dan Drilling, Will's lovely wide Jackie & Will himself. My favorite cuts on the album were "When the Boogied" (An up-temp dance tune that's a guaranteed hit if it gets the airplay it deserves), the title Cut "Cheatin'on Cheater"( A good ole cry in your beer
cheatin' song), and "Don't Turn off the Lights" (A slow ballad on which Will's vocals shine to the wail of a steel guitar). Opening the CD party was Jim
Parket, who sang "Chicken Truck", a song he head written and was recorded by Job Anderson. Next Cynthis White sang Ï Went
Slippin'Out, a Will Clements tune, and this was followed by stellar solo performaces by Terr Lynn m Tony Wade, and Destin Allen. The closing number brought the house down, with Will performing the cover "I Like Women on the Trashy Side"sharing the stage with a 6'5" male replica of Homer Simpson's wife.
If you hunger for good old traditional country music, Will's album is a must buy. Also, if you missed the CD release party, Will will appear in Nashville again on December 2nd at the Hall of Fame lounge.
